The New (Old) Tele

Fender Tele

My recently acquired Fender USA telecaster – probably best one I’ve played. Beat up but sounds rich, cleans up nicely with volume pot and plays great.

I had just got rid of my owned from new USA Tele a couple of months back, which to be honest I never got on well with, even after swapping the pickups out several times. I’ve always preferred old guitars with a bit of character and this one fits that bill perfectly.

A Strange Collaboration

It shouldn’t go together any more than spreading marmite on your banana sandwiches but the collaboration between Southern rockers Govt Mule and Elvis Costello on ‘Funny Little Tragedy’ just seems to work and is a great song.

DMN

I was recovering some files from an old external HDD this week and came across a load of images and videos of a band I played with.

DMN (or Dirty Maple Neck) were a Plymouth based, hard rockin’, but ultimately short lived band I played in for 6 months. The band had real energy and great potential but slid towards the trap of becoming over-rehearsed before seeing the light of day.

Here is a short clip of us covering ‘Black Dog’ by Led Zeppelin – not an easy song to cover hence why you very rarely see semi-pro bands playing it.
